La Genovese Caffè
In 1936, Dario Valle began his business in a warehouse in Albenga, which remained the headquarters of the small company at the time. Due to his close ties with the capital, Genoa, Dario Valle named his company La Genovese Caffè.
Because of World War II, the company’s activities were interrupted, and it was only years later that his son-in-law, Giuseppe Borea, resumed them. Initially, freshly roasted coffee was delivered by bicycle to bars and small cafés.
Until 1961, roasting was still done with a 30 kg F.I.M.T. roaster, which was later replaced by a new 60 kg machine. That same year, Dario and Piero Borea, Giuseppe's sons, began working in the business.
In 1994, the brand began distributing abroad, and today it is present in nearly every European country.
Since 2008, La Genovese Caffè has been a member of "INEI - Istituto Nazionale Espresso Italiano." This is the leading institution in quality assurance and preserving the national coffee culture, ensuring true and authentic Italian coffee standards.
We first met the director of La Genovese at a trade fair.
For the first time, the Italian National Espresso Institute organized its national barista championship at the INTERNORGA trade show in Hamburg. We had the opportunity to taste the product and were impressed by its outstanding quality. It seemed only natural to share this exciting new discovery with our customers.
